Poster forming part of the Benson Collection,'Save your hospitals: Donate money'. Picture of hospital scene and angel by J.H. Ball. The Hospital of London Combined Appeal began in 1920. This fundraising campaign aimed to restore hospital funds that had been exhausted during the First World War. The appeal was launched by the King Edward's Hospital Fund for London ('The King's Fund'), which took a lead in coordinating the work of all London's hospitals. The campaign lasted for several years and fundraisers organised a great variety of events including raffles, charity balls, fairs, bazaars, carnivals, ballroom dancing competitions, concerts, exhibitions and sporting events.
